 The reason I am a part of the National Federation of the blind is because I have a strong desire to continue to grow in skills of blindness, as well as further my ability to be independent. My personal philosophy about blindness is also the philosophy of the NFB, that blindness does not define me, but is just a part of who I am. I love that my fellow federationists are striving to grow in their independence and their skills of blindness. In addition, I needed a community of people who could come alongside me to fight for the rights of people such as myself, people who just happened to be blind.
